Regional HVAC Contractor — a project‑based engagement example.

Background

Regional HVAC Contractor is a $2.5M Logan, Utah HVAC contractor that buys its cooling and heating equipment ahead of each season, so cash dips hardest right when the prebuy lands and revenue hasn't caught up yet. We built a 12‑month cash flow forecast with bear, base, and bull cases side by side: the base case clears the owner's internal cash target, but the bear case breaches the bank's covenant floor for three months and needs a real line‑of‑credit draw. The deliverable itself is a fully playable Excel workbook — every figure and chart is linked live, so changing an assumption updates the whole dashboard with no rebuild required.

Background

Regional Landscaping & Hardscape Contractor is a Financial Visibility retainer client whose August numbers looked fine at a glance — revenue beat budget by 8.8% — until the monthly variance review caught why operating income still missed by $7,835. A supplier had raised paver and stone pricing back in June, job estimates were never updated to match, and the gap works out to $145,000 a year in margin that never reaches the bottom line unless pricing catches up.
